Today I was sick. I had a really bad headache in the night, and today I had a headache and a cold (when I woke up.) I'm pretty sure I will be at school tomorrow, though.

What did you do today? Please could you comment and tell me what you did!
Today we went on our last field trip for this unit, and it was to a Buddhist Temple. It was called the Chi Lin Nunnery. It was not really inside, it was more a garden. It was very big, and very pretty, and it was nice to be outside, but it was quite cold out, which was not so good. And Because our guest speaker could not be with us, Kas took my tent group, (Erin, Alice, Abby, and Daksha), and one of the boys tent groups (Tom, Paul, and Liam) around instead.
This beautiful temple was in the middle of a lake, kind of like an island!
There were many things I observed, but I think the most amazing thing I saw was an orange bridge leading to a temple (pictured above.) It was a very peaceful place, and there were many amazing things like that.
This is where the Chi Lin Nunnery was.
Today we visited the Islamic center. It was in Wan Chai, but we took a bus to get there. When we got there, we had to wait for a bit, but then we got to go up six floors to a classroom where we met our speaker, Imam Yang.

Some interesting things I found out were:

* Islam means peace
* You can not eat pork, and you can not have alchohol (sorry, I'm still in food mode from my essay:)
* They also have fasting, on the ninth month of the Islam Lunar calender (STILL thinking of food!)
* There are 28 letters in the alphabet
* Women have to have their hair covered, but men don't, unlike the Sikh religion, where men and women both have to have their hair covered.

Thanks for reading, and please comment!
Last weekend something very exciting happened! I got 2 turtles! I named them Speedy (the larger one), and Peydro (the smaller one.) They used to be Leilanie's turtles, but she is getting 2 guinea pigs, so I was lucky enough to get her turtles!

Even though they are small, there are a lot of things you need to do to look after them the right way. You have to feed them every morning, and you have to be careful to give them only the right amount of food they would be able to eat in 2 to 5 minutes. Their favorite food is dried shrimp, but they can also have fresh lettuce. You have to have a heater, and a filter in the tank, and a light shining above it for heat. You have to give them a vitamin every 2 nights, too.
Today, everyone in the class got to set a goal for themselves. My goal was to become better at the drums. I chose this goal because playing the drums is one of my favorite things to do, and I think I could improve.

I could do this by practicing the drums for 20 to 30 minutes a night, because I usually only practice for 10 minutes. I would like to also get to the second book by the end of January.

Another goal I have is to write more blogs. I want to achieve this because I do not write blogs that regularly, and I would like to. To do this I could leave some time in the afternoon, and I could blog about the day.
